Julian Adams

Deputy Head – PRA

Julian Adams is the Deputy Head of the Prudential Regulation Authority and Executive Insurance Director. He is the UK’s Board member of EIOPA and also sits on its Management Board and is a member of the Mediation Panel. His other international commitments include sitting on the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). He read History at Cambridge and has previously worked at the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority in a variety of senior management roles.

Michel Barnier

European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services

European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services, Michel Barnier has held a number of local, national and European positions, including Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (2007-2009), Minister for Foreign Affairs (2004-2005), European Commissioner for regional policy and institutional reform (1999-2004), Minister for European Affairs (1995-1997) and Minister for the Environment (1993-1995). He is also the Vice President of the European People's Party.

Gabriel Bernardino

Chairman – EIOPA

Gabriel Bernardino has been Chairman of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) since January 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Bernardino was the Director General of the Directorate for Development and Institutional Relations at the Instituto de Seguros de Portugal (ISP). He has served in several positions of increasing responsibility since he joined the ISP in 1989 and represented EIOPA’s preceding organisation, CEIOPS, as Chairman between October 2009 and December 2010.

Darryl D. Button

CFO – Aegon N.V.

Darryl Button joined Aegon in 1999 as Director of Product Development and Risk Management of Aegon USA’s Institutional Markets operating unit. He was appointed Aegon USA’s Corporate Actuary in 2002 and Chief Financial Officer of Aegon Americas in 2005. Between 2008 and 2011, he was given the additional responsibilities of Chairman, as well as executive management responsibility for Aegon’s Canadian operations. In 2013, he was named Chief Financial Officer for Aegon N.V.

Henri de Castries

Chairman & CEO – AXA Group

Chairman and CEO of the AXA Group since 2010, Henri de Castries was Chairman of the AXA Management Board since 2000. After starting his career in the French Finance Ministry Inspection Office (1980) and in the French Treasury Department (1984), he joins AXA's Corporate Finance Division (1989). He is then named Corporate Secretary (1991), Senior Executive Vice President (1993) and Chairman of The Equitable Companies (1997). Former student of the ENA, Henri de Castries is a graduate of HEC and holds a bachelor degree in Law.

Alberto Corinti

Executive Board Member – IVASS

Alberto Corinti is currently a Member of the Board of Directors at IVASS (Istituto per la Vigilanza sulle Assicurazioni). Prior to that, he served as Director at Promontory Financial Group (2011-2012), Director of the Economics and Finance department at CEA – the European insurance industry federation – (2007-2011), Secretary General of CEIOPS (2004-2007) and Head of various departments at ISVAP (former name for IVASS). He held a Degree in Business Administration from the University of Rome.

Thierry Derez

Chairman & CEO – Covéa

Thierry Derez has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Covéa since June 2008. Covéa is an organization that combines Assurances Mutuelles de France (AM) (Chairman 2001), La Garantie Mutuelle des Fonctionnaires (GMF) (Chairman and CEO 2001), MAAF Assurances (Chairman and CEO 2005), and MMA (Chairman 2007). Since April 2013, he has been a Member of the Board of Directors of SCOR SE. Mr. Derez is a lawyer at the Court of Appeal of Paris and a former Conference Secretary.

Yoshihiro Kawai

Secretary General – IAIS

Yoshihiro Kawai has held the position of Secretary General of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) since 2003. He joined the IAIS in 1998 as Deputy Secretary General and has been instrumental in the fast and dynamic growth of the Association. Dr Kawai’s professional career began with Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance Co and the Ministry of Labour, Tokyo. He later served on the Secretariat for the OECD Insurance Committee in Paris for 4 years.

Elke König

President – BaFin

Dr Elke König has been President of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) since 2012. From 1980 to 1990 she worked for KPMG Deutsche Treuhandgesellschaft, from 1986 as a holder of a special statutory authority, from 1988 as a director and partner. From 1990 to 2002, as a member of senior management of the Munich Re Group, she was Head of Accounting, before moving to Hannover Rückversicherung AG as Chief Financial Officer. From 2010 to end-2011 she was a member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).

Antoine Lissowski

Deputy CEO, CFO – CNP Assurances

Antoine Lissowski has been Deputy CEO, CFO of CNP Assurances since 2007 and a member of the CNP Assurances Executive Board since 2003. He is also President of the Economic and Financial Committee of the Whole to the FFSA. A graduate of IEP de Paris and of ENA (1982), he joined Caisse des dépôts et consignations where he spent most of his career before becoming CFO of CDC IXIS at its inception in 2000 and then member of the Executive, responsible for managing own account in 2002.

Christian Noyer

Governor – Banque de France

A graduate of ENA (l'École nationale d'administration), Christian Noyer has been Governor of the Banque de France since 2003. In this capacity, he is a member of the Council of Governors of the ECB and Chairman of the ACPR (Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution). Previously, he held a number of positions within the French Treasury, which he directed from 1993 to 1995. In addition, he was chief of staff for several French finance ministers. From 1998 to 2002, he was Vice-President of the ECB.

Bernard Spitz

FFSA President

Bernard Spitz is thePresident of the French Federation of Insurance Companies (FFSA). He was first appointed to this post on 1 October 2008. He sits on the board of MEDEF, the French Business Confederation, where he is President for International and European Affairs. A Maître des Requêtes (Counsel) at the Council of State, a Rapporteur at the Competition Council, Mr. Spitz was an adviser to former PM Michel Rocard (1988-1991), an executive director in the Canal+ top management (1992-1996) and the Head of Strategy for the Vivendi Universal Group (2000-2004).

Jean-Claude Trichet

Former President – ECB and Honorary Governor – Banque de France

Jean-Claude Trichet is presently chairman of the Group of Thirty (2011) and chairman of the board of Directors of the Bruegel Institute. He is a member of the Institut de France. He was President of the ECB, Governor of Banque de France and under secretary of the French Treasury. He was President of the Paris Club, President of the European Monetary Committee, President of the Group of 10 Central Banks Governors and President of the Global economy meeting in Basel.

Klaus Wiedner

Head of Unit, Insurance and Pensions – European Commission

Klaus Wiedner has been Head of Unit in DG Internal Market and Services responsible for insurance and pensions since March 2013. From 2004, he was first Deputy Head and then Head of the Unit especially responsible for the general reform of European procurement rules. After law studies, he began his career in 1993 in the Austrian Ministry for Economic Affairs and joined the Legal Service of the European Commission in 1996.

Thomas C. Wilson is the Chief Risk Officer for Allianz Group. Prior to that, he was the Chief Risk Officer for ING’s global insurance operations (2005-2008), the Global Head, Finance & Risk Practice at Oliver Wyman & Company (2002-2005), the CFO & CRO for Swiss Re New Markets (1998-2002) and the Global Head, Risk Management Practice, at McKinsey & Company. Mr. Wilson graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and from Stanford University.
